The Little Mermaid Tickets Information
The enchanted tale of a mermaid princess’s defiant longing to live on the land and her inconvenient love affair with a human prince has delighted audiences for decades, first as an 1837 Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale, then as a 1989 Academy Award winning animated movie, and now as an equally acclaimed Broadway musical.

Bringing to the Broadway stage the same delightful and enchanting tunes that have inspired parents and children alike – Under the Sea, Part of Your World, Kiss the Girl – The Little Mermaid features the music and lyrics of songwriting team Howard Ashman (“Little Shop of Horrors,” “Smile,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Aladdin”) and eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken (“Little Shop of Horrors,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Aladdin,” “Pocahontas,” “Enchanted”). Plus, this new version of the beloved timeless tale features 10 brand new songs by none other than Menken himself, this time in collaboration with Glenn Slater (“Sister Act: the Musical,” “Home on the Range”). The book for the stage musical was written by Doug Wright, Tony Award winning playwright of “Quills,” “Grey Gardens,” and “I Am My Own Wife.”

The rest of the creative team bringing this magical romance to life are Broadway debuting director Francesca Zambello (“Showboat,” “West Side Story,” “Porgy and Bess”), choreographer Stephen Mear (“Mary Poppins”), set designer George Tsypin (“The Magic Flute,” “War and Peace,” “MTV Video Music Awards”), costume designer Tatiana Noginova (Metropolitan Opera, Moscow Bolshoi Theatre), and lighting designer Natasha Katz (“The Coast of Utopia,” “Tarzan,” “Aida,” “Beauty and the Beast”).

The set is translucent and designed to take light in such a way as to evoke a real sense of being underwater. To enhance that fluid aura, the actors wear footwear with wheeled heels.

Starring Sierra Boggess in her Broadway debut as the beautiful and sonorous Ariel opposite Sean Palmer (“On the Town,” “Saturday Night Fever,” “The Apple Tree”) as the dashing Prince Eric, Norm Lewis (“Les Miserables,” “Miss Saigon,” “Chicago”) as the stern King Triton, and Sherie Rene Scott (“Landscape of the Body,” “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels”) as the devious tentacled villain Ursula, The Little Mermaid features an all-star cast of incredible talent.

After a completely sold-out run of the 95,000-seat Denver Center for the Performing Arts, the musical moved to the Big Apple where it’s been playing since the beginning of 2008 (after a brief opening in November of 2007 that was interrupted by the unfortunate stage-hand strike).

This Broadway incarnation of The Little Mermaid was nominated for three 2008 Drama Desk Awards, an Outer Critics Circle Award, a Drama League Award, and two 62 nd Annual Tony Awards including Best Original Score.

The Little Mermaid is playing now at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre.

Whether or not you’ve seen The Lion King or Beauty and the Beast, make sure you don’t miss this once-in-a-lifetime chance to make The Little Mermaid live on stage part of your world.
