Based on the 1999 animated Disney film loved by generations that, in turn, was based on the 1912 novel "Tarzan of the Apes" by Edgar Rice Burroughs, the story of the Tarzan musical is familiar to most - an infant is left stranded and orphaned on the shores of West Africa after a shipwreck, whereupon he is taken in by a family of gorillas who raise him as their own.
