High School Musical on Broadway Tickets Information
Originally a Disney Channel Original Movie with a soundtrack that topped Billboard charts, High School Musical is a noble and inspiring story of overcoming peer pressure in order to pursue your dreams. It follows the captain of the school basketball team and the brainy new girl in town as they land leads in their school play.

Also being billed as “High School Musical On Stage,” the new Broadway stage production of the show is, according to the Chicago Tribune, a “pumped up, Broadway-style show that delivers excitement and spectacle!"

The current cast of “High School Musical On Tour!” likely to be appearing in the Broadway version features John Jeffery Martin (Hairspray, Rocky Horror, Good Vibrations) as Troy and Arielle Jacobs (Atlanta world premiere of High School Musical, the Broadway Workshop’s MASK, and TV’s Commander in Chief) as Gabriella, supported by Shakiem Evans (Mamma Mia!) as Chad, Shaullanda Lacombe (National Touring company of The Lion King) as Taylor, Bobby List (The Human Comedy) as Ryan, Michael Mahan (World Premiere of High School Musical in the same role) as Jack, Olivia Oguman (Les Miserables) as Kelsi, and Ben Thompson (World Professional Premiere of High School Musical, originating the same role) as Zeke.

The live stage version of High School Musical is directed by Tony Award-winner Jeff Calhoun ( Big River, Grease, Annie Get Your Gun) and choreographed by Lisa Stevens (Bombay Dreams). Book for the show was written by David Simpatico (The Screams of Kitty Genovese, Truman Capote’s In Cold Blood, Disney’s Alice in Wonderland, Trouble in Paradise, Bad Blood, and the silver screen’s Freefall, Prom Queen, Wish Fulfillment, and Mike’s Makeover).

The list of songwriters for the show is a mile long and features Matthew Gerrard (Kelly Clarkson’s “Breakaway”, Nick Carter’s “Help Me”, and Jessica Simpson’s “Underneath”), Robbie Nevil, and Andrew Seeley.

Fans of High School Musical (before it ever saw the neon lights of Broadway) will not only enjoy seeing their favorite characters performing their favorite songs live on stage, but they’ll also be treated to two brand new songs written exclusively for this version of the show.

Winner of Emmy Awards, Billboard Music Awards, and Teen Choice Awards, it seemed only inevitable that High School Musical would make the transition to Broadway just like so many other successful Disney tales. In fact, High School Musical 2 has already launched a stage version inevitably bound, it seems, for Broadway too.

The franchise that spawned an ice show, an upcoming UK reality TV series, a book series, a video game, and the aforementioned sequel, is now coming to the Broadway, and you can be there for all the fun and excitement!
