Philadelphia Flyers Tickets Information
Interesting to note, Philly had only ever had one other NHL team before, the Philadelphia Quakers, and for only one season (1930-31).
Playing home games at Wachovia Center (once known as First Union Center and CoreStates Center), the Philadelphia Flyers have racked up 15 Atlantic Division Championships in their career, including four in a row between 1973 and 1977, 3 in a row between 1984 and 1987, and most recently in 2004. They've also won seven Eastern Conference Championships and two consecutive Stanley Cups, in 1973-74 (against the Boston Bruins) and in 1974-75 (against the Buffalo Sabres).
New Team Captain as of this 2006-07 season (and a Flyer since 1991) Peter Forsberg is one of the most-recognized faces in hockey. This Swedish legend (and former Colorado Avalanche) is one of only 18 players in NHL history to win a Stanley Cup, a World Hockey Championship, and an Olympic Gold Medal, giving him a permanent spot in the esteemed Triple Gold Club.
The team recently lost star defenseman and two-time Barry Ashbee Trophy winner Kim Johnson to the Minnesota Wild, but the addition of NHL veteran Geoff Sanderson (who made 6 other NHL teams proud before coming to the Flyers) and the ever-versatile former Chicago Blackhawks forward Kyle Calder to the roster sure softens the blow.
Get your Philadelphia Flyers tickets and be the first to see these new stars join familiar Flyers like speed-demon Simon Gagne on the ice. The Flyers' alternate captain, Gagne started young in pro hockey at
16 years old, going on to win the 2002 Olympic gold medal and earn the respective of his peers on the Philadelphia Flyers by winning the Pelle Lindbergh Memorial (for most improved player), the Bobby Clarke Trophy (for MVP), and the Toyota Cup twice (for star point scorer).
After a 2005-06 season that saw 14 of the Philadelphia Flyers going in for surgery for one injury or another, the team is chomping at the bit to make 2006-07 a breakout season!
