In the 1967-68 Expansion, two California franchises were added to the NHL, one being the California Seals and the other being the Los Angeles Kings. In their first game they beat the Philadelphia Flyers 4-2, setting the pace for the next 40 years of strident competition.

Los Angeles Tickets Information
Playing for 32 seasons at the Fabulous Forum, built just for them in Ingelwood, California, the Los Angeles Kings now call Staples Center their home, where they still boast some of the most avid and voracious fans in hockeydom.

The best season for the Kings was 1992-93, when they beat the Calgary Flames for the 1992-93 Western Conference Championships, but lost the Stanley Cup finals to the Montreal Canadiens. The Kings were also the 1990-91 Pacific Division Champions.

Los Angeles Kings fans will notice the absence of potent center Pavol Demitra, traded to the Minnesota Wild, but will quickly be distracted by the wild and wily additions of Patrick O'Sullivan and Trevor Lewis to the mix.

The most thrilling newcomer to the Kings, however, is a former Los Angeles Kings legend, Rob Blake, who's only returned to the team after a brief stint with the Colorado Avalanche. When first he was a King, Rob Blake helped the team make it to the Stanley Cup finals in 1993 (though losing to the Montreal Canadiens), and replaced the legendary Wayne Gretzky as the Kings' captain when he was traded away to St. Louis in 1996. His first year with the Avalanche, 2001, he experienced Stanley Cup victory, but after the team refused to renew his contract for this upcoming 2006-07 season, Blake, a free agent, went back to his pro hockey roots, and all over Los Angeles, hockey fans are cheering, buzzing with anticipation at what Blake will bring to their game now.

Blake, however, is not alone among current Los Angeles Kings worth following this year. Take a look at
6-time Best Slovakian Defenseman Lubomi Visnovski, for example, voted best overall player in Slovakia in 2005. Or Anze Kopitar, who was the NHL European Scouting Service's number one draft prospect for 2005, the year he was picked up by the Kings. He's only the second Slovenian ever to play in the NHL, and the first ever to be drafted. In his first game, against the Anaheim Ducks, he scored 2 goals, and his second game, against the St. Louis Blues, he notched 3 assists. On America's Thanksgiving 2006, he scored his first at home goal, against the Calgary Flames.

There's nothing like a live Los Angeles Kings game, between the action on the ice and off. Get your Los Angeles Kings tickets now and be a part of it all.
