James Taylor Tickets Information
The Boston, Massachusetts-born, Chapel Hill, North Carolina-raised songwriter got his first introduction to music playing the cello as a youngster, though he quickly switched to the guitar, the instrument that eventually helped catapult him to fame.

Starting with his eponymous debut album which he recorded in 1968 while living in London, England, James Taylor has recorded more than 15 studio albums (including several certified gold or platinum), three live albums, three greatest hits albums (including his first which went diamond after selling over 11 million albums), and two Christmas albums.

Far more than either a folk musician or a pop star, James Taylor’s hit singles include Carolina in My Mind, Fire and Rain, Don’t Let Me Be Lonely Tonight, How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You), Mexico, Shower the People, and Hard Times.

He’s recorded and performed with some of recording history’s greatest names, including his future bride Carly Simon (Mockingbird and Devoted to You) and legendary songwriting duo Simon and Garfunkel (What a Wonderful World). He’s also collaborated with fellow legendary vocalist Carole King, cellist Yo-Yo Ma, and saxophonist David Sanborn.

In his career, James Taylor has won six Grammy Awards, starting with Best Pop Vocal Performance, Male in 1971 for You’ve Got a Friend, and most recently winning 2006’s Grammy MusiCares Person of the Year Award.

In 2000, James Taylor was inducted into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. In 2004, he won the George and Ira Gershwin Award for Lifetime Musical Achievement as well as being ranked number 84 in Rolling Stone Magazine’s list of “The Immortals: 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.”

After decades of acclaimed live performances, James Taylor’s latest tour comes on the heels of the January 2008 recording of a new studio/live album featuring 20 new songs performed by Taylor along with a once-in-a-lifetime collection of major musical talents that he dubbed the Band of Legends—powerhouse names like Steve Gadd, Larry Goldings, Jimmy Johnson, Michael Landau, David Lasley, Lou Marini, Kate Markowitz, Arnold McCuller, and Andrea Zonn. The album has yet to be named and is slated for release sometime in the fall of 2008.

In the meantime, James Taylor and his Band of Legends start their summer tour on May 22, 2008 at the Verizon Wireless Virginia Beach Amphitheater in Virginia Beach, Virginia and play throughout the US and Canada, ending on August 6, 2008 at Red Rocks in Denver, Colorado.
