George Michael’s latest tour, entitled “25 Live,” was his first world tour in more than a decade and a half. It was originally scheduled to run for 50 dates starting on September 25 of 2006 in Barcelona, Spain, and ending on December 15 after 3 shows at London’s Wembley Arena, but the concert was so successful that a second leg followed almost immediately upon the heels of the first for the summer and autumn of 2007.
This third leg of the tour sees George Michael hitting the states with “25 Live North America,” beginning on June 17 in San Diego, California and running for 21 shows in the United States and Canada, ending August 3, 2008 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Two bonus dates were later scheduled for August 24 and 25 in England’s Earl’s Court.
Highlights of the “25 Live” tour include a giant LED screen, a 3D video wall, motion tracking technology with, for the first time, real-time responsive on-screen visuals, and, also for the very first time, 490 frequency channels transmitting the rich, illustrious sound of George Michael and his band.
This “25 Live” tour marks George Michael’s third world tour since “The Faith World Tour” in 1988 (the other one being “Cover to Cover” in 1991). This North American leg is his first tour in the States in 17 years.
