Dancing with the Stars Tickets Information
Brought to you by the same station that gave us The Bachelor, Desperate Housewives, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Lost, and Wife Swap, and currently in its fourth season, Dancing with the Stars is the smash hit ABC Television show the pits eight celebrities from stage, screen, field, and every arena other than ballroom dancing against one another in a ballroom dancing competition.

Dancing with the Stars is based on a successful British T.V. series called Strictly Come Dancing in which each celeb is paired with a professional dancer whose job it is to, essentially, make them good look, teaching them the assigned dances, and training, practicing, and performing those dances with them.

The dances assigned on the show include:

• Foxtrot

• Quickstep

• Tango

• Viennese Waltz

• Waltz

• Latin Dances –

• Cha-cha-cha

• Jive

• Mambo

• Paso Doble

• Rumba

• Samba

The winners are determined by viewers at home, who call in and text message their votes from their phone and online, combined with the scores given by the 3-person panel of judges. This panel is made up of:

• head judge Len Goodman – a multiple award-winning professional dancer and dance instructor who teaches Latin and ballroom dancing at his own school in Kent, England;

• Carrie Ann Inaba – a Honolulu, Hawaii native of Japanese, Chinese, and Irish descent, whose dance experience is as equally diverse, having been part of the Fly Girls in TV’s In Living Color  and Madonna’s “The Girlie Show Tour”, as well as choreographed for “American Idol”, for starters;

• Bruno Tolioni – a professional dancer and choreographer who also judges the show’s BBC progenitor, Strictly Come Dancing, and is slated to judge the BBC’s next dance competition, DanceX;

Spoiler Alert: If you don’t want to know the winners of previous years, skip this paragraph. Season 4 of Dancing with the Stars just wrapped up this spring with Olympic speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno winning with partner Julianne Hough. Season 3’s winners were NFL footballer Emmit Smith and Cheryl Burke, Season 2’s winners were 98 Degrees singer Drew Lachey, also with Cheryl Burke, and Season 1 was won by General Hospital’s Kelly Monaco with Alec Mazo.

Dancing with the Stars is a global franchise with versions of the show receiving similar acclaim in Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Chile, Croatia, Denmark, Ecuador, Estonia, Finland, French-Canada, Germany, Hungary, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Mexico, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Paraguay, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Ukraine, and Venezuela. Greece, Thailand, Lebanon, Brazil, and Hong Kong are rumored to soon be following suit.

Dancing with the Stars shoots in CBS Television City in Los Angeles, California in Studio 43, right next door to Studio 46 where American Idol is held. Live audiences join cohosts Samantha Harris (E! Entertainment Television, AMC Access, The Next Joe Millionaire [as host]) and Tom Bergeron (Daytime Emmy winner, Hollywood Squares, America’s Funniest Home Videos) as they and the judges experience all the excitement live.
