Avril Lavigne Tickets Information
It was shortly after she was discovered by the man who became her first manager singing country songs in a bar in a local bookstore that she was signed by Arista Records and went to work on her first album, Let Go. One major talent working closely with Avril Lavigne on that debut album was none other than The Matrix, who's worked with the likes of Shakira, Hilary Duff, Liz Phair, and Britney Spears.
Avril Lavigne's debut was a hit. Let Go earned her 6 Juno nominations and 4 Juno awards, "Best New Artist" at the MTV Music Video Awards, "World's Best Canadian Singer" at the World Music Awards, and 8 Grammy Award nominations.
On the heels of this success, her second album, Under My Skin, sold over 350,000 copies in the United States its first week out. The album debuted at number 1 in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Australia, Argentina, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Japan, Korea, and Mexico.
On April 17, 2007, Avril Lavigne gave us her third and latest album, The Best Damn Thing, and if you think you've missed out on the world tour for this awesome album, you've got another thing coming. Avril Lavigne returns to the stage at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre in Victoria, Canada on March 5, 2008, and is scheduled to hit spots in Canada and the U.S. through May 9 at the Spokane Arena in Spokane, Washington.
Avril Lavigne is an MTV TRL (Total Request Live) fave with 8 of her videos peaking at number 1: "Complicated", "Sk8er Boi", I'm With You", "Losing Grip", "Don't Tell Me", "My Happy Ending", "Girlfriend", and "When You're Gone". With many of those same songs, Avril Lavigne hit #1 on the music charts in 5 countries - the U.S., Australia, Canada, Italy, and Spain - as well as the Eurochart Hot 100 and the United World Chart.
Avril Lavigne has also recorded a number of fantastic covers, such as:
-
Green Day's "Basket Case"
-
Shania Twain's "No One Needs to Know"
-
Bob Dylan's "Knockin' On Heaven's Door"
-
John Lennon's "Imagine"
-
and reportedly her favorite song, The Goo Goo Doll's "Iris"
Avril Lavigne has also made fans through her appearances in film (Fast Food Nation, Over the Hedge, and The Flock) and television (Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, and Going the Distance).
One of the attributes fans love most about Avril Lavigne, though, isn't even her music. It's her amazing commitment to helping others, as seen through her involvement in charities like: AmericanCPR.org, Amnesty International, Camp Will-a-Way, Make-a-Wish Foundation, Make Some Noise, Music Clearing Minefields, U.S. Campaign for Burma, War Child, and her appearances in ALDO's YouthAIDS ads. In Avril Lavigne's 2005 tour, she worked with a non-profit organization benefiting the environment, called Reverb.
