311 Tickets Information
The band started when four buddies – Nick Hexum, Aaron Wills, Chad Sexton, and Jim Watson – united as under the name “Fish Hippos” and played small venues together throughout the local Omaha area. The name 311 came from an embarrassing skinny dipping incident involving Jim Watson and the police. Ironically, the inspiration for the name, Watson, left the band in 1991, replaced by another friend of the group, Tim Mahoney.

The band spent the first few years of the ‘90’s putting out demos under Hexum’s independent label What Have You Records, with 4 in 3 years – Dammit!, Downstairs EP, Unity, and Hydroponic.

With that last 6-song demo in hand, the band moved to Los Angeles, California and was signed by a major label within months. Next thing they knew, Music, the first major label release by 311, hit the racks. That album and its follow up

Since then, there have been 6 more, the most successful (by sales figures, at least) being their eponymous 1995 album – 311 (aka The Blue Album) – which went triple platinum and gave us hit singles – “Don’t Stay Home”, “Down”, and “All Mixed Up”. Its follow-up Transistor went platinum and saw the Billboard success of 3 its singles – “Prisoner”, “Beautiful Disease” and the title track.

311, Transistor, and every 311 album since - that’s Soundsystem, From Chaos, Evolver, and their most recent Don’t Tread On Me – have all peaked somewhere on the Top 15 of the Billboard 200 charts.

Their 2004 single “Love Song” from the 50 First Dates Soundtrack saw a full week at #1. Their singles “Come Original”, “You Wouldn’t Believe”, “Creatures (For a While)”, and “Don’t Tread on Me” have all been in the Billboard U.S. Modern Rock Top 10.

311 has also since released 2 compilation albums – October Sessions and Greatest Hits ’93-03 – and one live album, appropriately titled Live.

311 is Nick Hexum on vocals, rhythm guitar and programming, Doug “SA” Martinez on vocals and DJ, Tim Mahoney on lead guitar, Aaron “P-Nut” Wills on bass guitar, and Chad Sexton on drums and programming.

The latest 311 outtting is The Summer Unity Tour with special guest Matisyahu from Brooklyn, New York. The 311 Unity Tour kicks off on June 21 at the Rialto in Tucson, Arizona and is scheduled to run through August 29 at the Marymoor Amphitheatre in Seattle, Washington. This is gonna be a killer show – and everybody’s going. So get your 311 tickets while you still can.
